La Hacienda Restaurant, 515 S. Park St., has paid $38,249 in back wages to 14 employees following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The restaurant was found to have violated overtime pay standards for salaried cooks, busboys and dishwashers who worked an average of 59 hours per week, the Labor Department reported. One worker was paid less than minimum wage.
Restaurant operators also failed to keep accurate records of hours works by employees. The violations occurred from January 2003 to December 2004.
After the investigation, La Hacienda agreed to comply with the law and changed its payroll policies, the Labor Department reported.
